Local Calling:

Long Distance Calling

Station-to-Station:
Call station-to-station if you want to talk with anyone who answers. Rates are lower than person-to-person. Charging begins when the called telephone is answered either by a person or by an automatic answering unit.
Direct Distance Dialed: These are calls where the caller dials the number directly and no operator assistance is required. Dial 1 + Area Code + Number.

Collect:
You can call collect, either station-to-station or person-to-person, if the person or firm you are calling agrees to pay the charge. Customers may place calls by dialing 0 + 607 + number (within area code) and 0 + area code + number (outside area code).

International Calling

To Place International Calls Direct:
Dial 011 + Country Code + City Code + Telephone Number
To Place Operator-Assisted International Calls:
Dial 01 + Country Code + City Code + Telephone Number
For International Assistance:
Dial "010" or "00" in the case of some carriers.

Contact your carrier to obtain specific dialing instructions.

Equal Access

Equal Access is a telephone company term which means you can use the long distance company of your choice with "equal" ease.
Although we always want to be helpful to our customers, we are prohibited from discussing the long distance companies' prices and services. The Delhi Telephone Company only provides the access for connection to long distance companies. Examining your calling habits will help you to select the carrier best suited for you.
Some of the long distance companies will mail you a bill separate from the Delhi Telephone Company bill. The Delhi Telephone Company does not provide billing for several carriers. Please consult the carrier of your choice with regards to the source of billing.
There is a charge levied by the Delhi Telephone Company when the customer requests a change from one carrier to another. The one-time charge is $5.00 for a residential line and $5.00 for a business line. This charge applies to each line (number) that has its long distance carrier changed.
To use the interlata carrier of your choice on individual calls: dial "10" followed by the carrier code followed by your number as normally dialed.
